Ash, a Scots aid worker, has spoken out about the devastating hunger emergency he witnessed in a refugee camp in Africa.

He described the scene as ‘heartbreaking’ and said he was left in tears after seeing the desperation in the eyes of the people he was trying to help.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Ash said: ‘I’ve seen some terrible things in my time as an aid worker, but this was something else. The scale of the hunger and desperation was overwhelming.’

He added: ‘I’ve never seen anything like it. The people were so desperate, they were eating grass and leaves just to survive.’

Ash, who has been working in the refugee camp for several months, said he was shocked by the severity of the situation.

‘I’ve worked in some tough places before, but this was different,’ he said. ‘The people were so desperate, they were willing to do anything to get food.’

He described the scene as ‘like something out of a horror movie’ and said he was left feeling ‘helpless’ and ‘powerless’.

Ash’s comments come as the world struggles to cope with the worst refugee crisis since World War II.

The United Nations has warned that the situation is ‘catastrophic’ and that millions of people are at risk of starvation.

Ash’s story is a stark reminder of the devastating impact of conflict and poverty on innocent people.

He is calling on people to donate to aid organizations to help those in need.

‘Every little bit counts,’ he said. ‘If we can just get some basic supplies to these people, it could make all the difference.’

Ash’s words are a powerful reminder of the importance of compassion and kindness in the face of adversity.

‘We are all human beings, and we all deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.’
